My passion today - as it has been for the past 34 years - is entrepreneurship. I bring lots of  practical "sleeves rolled up" experience in the trenches of small business management and non-profit program management serving entrepreneurs.

I have learned that many entrepreneurs invest virtually all of their time working "in" their businesses, and very little time working "on" their businesses. Working in the business means doing the technical work of the business - the work that generates the income.

Working on the business means doing the work necessary to grow, develop and sustain the business, the "systems" work. For that reason I have created the VisionMasters Enterprise Development System (VEDS), which has four operating components: 1) VisionMasters, 2) E-Vision Centers, 3) VisionMaster Clubs, and 4) the VisionMasters Professional Network. to train and support individuals who seek career success as entrepreneurs. When trained and certified as Entrepreneur VisionMasters, individuals have the skills and resources they need to manage and operate systems-driven enterprises.

While I have learned to apply basic coaching skills - listening, challenging, strategizing, advising, questioning and empowering - to support many for-profit and non-profit social entrepreneurs, I understand that maximizing business opporunities is based on the quality of your business systems. And that process begins with vision.

During my career:

I have managed three community development financial institutions in Memphis and St. Louis, where I was community bank CEO and Senior Loan Officer. As a bank director, I served as Executive Committee Chair, and Loan Committee Chair. In the early 1980's, as General Manager of a Federal Savings and Loan Association, I originated, managed, sold and serviced mortgage loans in St. Louis. I was a turnaround specialist for problem institutions.

In Atlanta, I created and managed, as Program Director, a $12 million Entrepreneurial Development Loan Fund, and led a staff of entrepreneurial mentors. This Fund was supported by a consortium of the 6 largest commercial banks in Atlanta. We worked with hundreds of struggling hard-working entrepreneurs.

Also, I served as Program Director of the SBA micro-loan fund in Atlanta serving 20 counties under contract with U. S. Small Business Administration. In addition, I served as Program Director for the Atlanta Minority Business Development Center, funded by the Minority Business Development Agency of the U. S. Department of Commerce. I served as mentor/coach/consultant to hundreds of entrepreneurs. Most worked hard, but very few of them prospered.

I have been controller/chief financial officer/duputy director of a multi-million dollar, multi-location community health organization, with 25 primary care physicians.

I have been the chief financial officer and general manager of a multi-million dollar beer distributorship.

I have created a Direct Public Offering Program used by entrepreneurs to raise equity capital from private investors under Regulation D.

In my post-retirement "encore career" I am a VisionMaster Business Analyst, collaborating with community colleges to establish E-Vision Centers that enhance their adult and career education programs, enabling individuals to become job creators, and members of the VisionMasters Professional Network.

I am an experienced small business manager, executive, and systems analyst. I have coached and advised hundreds of entrepreneurs who worked hard but, in the end, never prospered. So, I have created the  VisionMasters Professional Network to emppower entrepreneurs to transform their businesses into  systems-driven growth enterprises.
