Preparation
Select the planning team. Create a work plan for each team member. Establish our collaboration proess. Determine who we will interiew and the information sources we will utilize. Establish the planning horizon and performance review period.
Situation Analysis (Who)
Analyze the current internal situation, and how we arrived in our current situation. Identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to improve our situation, relative to competitive market conditions. Analyze current relationships, and new ones needed.
Mission Review (Why)
Review our purpose and reason we exist. List our values (the things that are important to us in order to fulfill our purpose). State our core beliefs about ourselves and our world.
Action Plan (How)
Set forth broad objectives to be achieved over the 3-year to 5-year planning horizon for each business system.
Budgeting (When)
Set goals for revenue, expense and financial condition, and make assumptions on which these goals are based. Establish outcome goals. Establish target dates for achieving these goals
Performance Monitoring (Where)
Review and report the performance of the organization in each functional area. Review sources of revenue. Describe what success looks like.
Plan Review
Write the plan document. Submit segments of the plan to team members for discussion and input. Make modifications and corrections to the document Obtain plan approval.
Celebration of Results
Announce the plan presentation event to celebrate the mission, announce the new goals and objectives and the relationships to be formed or newly created. and announce the achievements of the organization during the review period
